Trip Description

This is an opportunity to accompany the Everest climbing team during their approach march and acclimatising mountain. We will attempt either Nirekha (6150m), or the more popular Island Peak (6189m) depending on the snow/ice conditions. Nirekha is a little known peak with a great view. From the summit the panorama includes Pumori, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest. You can look right into the Western Cwm.  Island Peak is set right under the stupendous South Face of Lhotse, the biggest and baddest of Himalayan "big walls". Both climbs are excellent.

The Khumbu valley is a  mythic place,  first explored by Eric Shipton in 1951, who thereby proved that the great mountain could be climbed from Nepal. We will be trekking through not only foreign lands but also through the past.
